SOUNDWAVE RESISTANCE
SOUNDWAVE RESISTANCE
MY BIOGRAPHY
In 1987 I started writing songs, poetry and then short stories. I found that it was such a great way of expressing myself in my life. My writing is really autobiographical in many ways, I write about what I have seen or been through. I also inject some joy, energy, humour and fantasy in my music, to me that’s important in life.
In the mid 80s I discovered then heard the cool sounds of Hip Hop music coming from the pirate radio stations around my neighbourhood. I was really taken back with the new fresh sound, attitude, the movement, also with the catchy song lyrics. I started to learn to rap and beat box with my friends, and then I started to write my own songs. I would write down song lyrics and verses all the time in my notebook. I would have rap battles with all my friends and with other local rappers to see who could freestyle the best. We all would have break dance battles for fun and just to pass the time...
Over many a years I bought hundreds of cool instrumental records with different catchy beats, so I could rap over the top of them to practice and keep my flow and style real tight. I remember spending hours and hours on the microphone everyday, every night for years, and then after a short while later..... Soundwave Resistance was born.
In 1991 my friends asked me to join their Hip Hop crew from our secondary school, called Armed and Dangerous. Then in 1992 I decided to join up with, Two Funk Entertainment a live R&B band as the main rap artist. We performed and played across London for four years. I really enjoyed the live sound and band experience. I learned allot and had a lot of fun being on the road with my friends and fellow artists, and meeting cool people and talking to a lot of interesting fans. In 1996 we made our first album called, Rhythm and Pop. Later on that year, I decided to leave the band to pursue a solo career, working with other producers, DJ'S, rappers, on radio Stations, entering open MIC Hip Hop tournaments, and also working on producing some film soundtracks for a few film directors. In 2005 I set up Artistic Base a platform to get my creative work out there. I now produce my own music and films.
